![]() In theory, and its trailers, and even in an earlier demo, Mechajammer is a stylish, complex, intriguingly messy cyberpunk RPG with a chaotic retro look. ![]() By my third restart I'd abandoned all interest in playing any character I wanted, and started trying to estimate whatever would get this over with sooner. When the first few dilemmas you face in an RPG aren't ethical or character ones, but about whether it would be more tedious to continue with this character or to play through the introduction again, you know there's a problem. A second would be the sounds Joe Pesci makes in Home Alone. If I had to describe Mechajammer in a word, that word would be "brown". That led to us having to shoot an open window, so we could pass back the way we came.Between its threadbare design and shocking number of bugs and major glitches, Mechajammer is an unfortunately miserable experience. Windows can be opened with lockpicking and jumped through, but when in combat you can’t interact with the window to jump back through it. ![]() The dice system is fun, but it needs to reveal some info on at least rough target numbers you’re rolling for, so you can determine what “good” is. In this immersive sim choose your path wisely, as your story options will shift with every choice. To escape, you must gather rumors, bribe enemies, and earn trust through completing missions. ![]() You and your crew of deserters have crashed onto a hostile jungle colony. Issue commands to the whole squad to keep the turn-based combat fast and exciting. Recruit large squads of mercenaries, gang members, and thieves as companions. Freely roam through the streets of an off-world cyberpunk city, the killer jungles outside its walls, and the occult syndicate hollows below. ![]()
